Educational Goals

As a nationally accredited university, we support students with a range of goals. This is your educational journey. No matter where you are on your path, we offer solid biblical teaching alongside ministry and leadership training. It is a great time to get further equipped.

High school students

Whether you are still in high school or about to graduate, now is a great time to be starting college. Dual enrollment is for those who are still in high school and want to start taking college courses. Most students benefit from studying the Bible and putting down a solid foundation of theology. The ministry classes give you an opportunity to explore callings and giftings in a guided environment to prepare you for the future.

New to College

If you are new to college, we have many starter classes to get you going. We offer student support with registration and accessing all of the course material. Most classes come with course notes to complement the lectures. We want all students to thrive in college and deeply learn the word of God. Your first milestone will be earning an AA in Biblical Studies. You get to choose your area of emphasis and the topics that interest you the most.

Degree Completion Students

Transferring into NCBC has always been a great option. We try to maximize the number of units you can bring in from your previous education. We will do a free assessment of any previous college, ministry school, workplace or military training you may have done. If you bring in a maximum of 135 quarter units, our core Biblical Studies curriculum takes one year of full-time schooling to complete.  For students that have at least two years of college complete, we offer a 4+1 degree where you work toward a BA and MA. This allows you to finish two degrees in much less time, than if doing them in series. For a free transcript assessment email admissions@ncbc.net

Graduate Students

Do you have an accredited bachelor’s degree in any field? It will get you into the MA in Biblical and Practical Theology. This allows people from other fields of study to lay a theological foundation. This is a great program to go deeper in theology and ministry at the same time. Most students taking the full program complete it in two years. Students come from all walks of life and backgrounds and find the program prepares them to minister more effectively in the workplace and church context.

Lifetime Learner

Not seeking a degree or certificate? Many of our classes are open for Personal Enrichment enrollment. You get all of the benefits of learning without the stress of a degree (or homework). Audit students are part of the class and benefit from all of the lectures and material. This is a great way to continue to learn at a lower price. Brush up on biblical topics, ministry skills, or just be encouraged weekly.

online LEARNING

Live classes and Distance pre-recorded classes can be taken online. These classes can be taken for college credit leading to a degree (AA, BA, or MA), the Certificate program, or for personal enrichment.

Many of the courses in the catalog can be taken by Distance. Distance learning is completely online and at your own pace and schedule within the 12-week time frame. Enrollment is ongoing for these classes. These courses have the best of our recorded lectures. Students taking online distance education courses can begin at any time but the course must be completed within the same 12-week period (just like a Live course). Communication with the professor will be substantive and frequent.

affording tuition

NCBC has tried to keep our education as affordable as possible for students. The school has a 50 year history in a high-cost area and we are aware of the financial pressures of life. Students do not need to relocate to take classes, which does help with some of the expenses. Many students are able to work and take classes part-time.

We also have great faith, that if God calls us to do a thing, He is the one who will provide. We appreciate keeping the tuition low and encouraging students not to rely on debt/loans for college.

Some employers have great learning benefits that students should look into. NCBC has a limited number of scholarships. (There are certain discounts for veterans, first responders, or other categories, see the tuition page for more details.)

lecture previews

Here are some great lectures from our archives of Biblical Studies classes in-progress. This will give you an idea of what our students experience and the learning that takes place.

Our dedicated professors and lecturers provide hours of lectures for each class. Most classes are accompanied by a detailed course manual with all of the notes from the lectures. This allows students to better focus on the material without needing to take notes. It also has the benefit of having the Scripture available as the lesson is being taught.

prospective student FAQS

What denomination is NCBC?

For over 50 years, NCBC has served the needs of students from hundreds of churches and various denominations. We serve a growing network of “distance” students located throughout the United States and abroad. NCBC is not formally part of any denomination but has a rich history of working among many churches and streams. We welcome students from many backgrounds who hold to the Statement of Faith.

What is required to become a student?

The main qualification to become a student at NCBC is a strong desire to learn God’s word.

Students may show their readiness for undergraduate or certificate level college courses by providing a high school diploma, GED, military service record (JST), or previous college transcript. These students may immediately register for their first class without a placement exam. These students should submit a transcript from their highest educational institution. All military persons should submit a JST (this will also provide proof of Veterans eligibility at NCBC.)

Students over the age of 18 without a GED or high school diploma may enroll in the undergraduate or certificate programs. Concurrent Enrollment high school students attending a full-time high school or home school students that have completed the equivalent of ninth grade may also enroll in NCBC’s undergraduate college-level or certificate programs. These students will have to take an internal Placement Test to show their college readiness. This test is 40 minutes and 100 questions (it is similar to the Wonderlic Ability to Benefit exam). A score of over 50% in English and in Math will show college readiness. Concurrent Enrollment high school students will be limited to 12 units per quarter.

All students who take the first course for credit are required to achieve at least a “C” grade, as evidence of their competency to continue with the program. Graduate Programs require a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited US college or university.

What if I am an international student?

Should an individual for whom English is not their first language and without a high school diploma apply, this student is required to take the TOEFLiBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-Based Test) and achieve a score of 90 out of 120 or higher. This requirement is in addition to the other requirements listed in this policy. Many of our students live internationally and still take distance courses.

NCBC offers Guidance Counseling

Proper guidance is available to each student who aims toward completing either a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies, Associate of Arts in Biblical Studies, or a Certificate in Biblical Studies. Students may email or call the office to make an appointment with one of our guidance counselors. The meeting will consist of a review of all transferred credits, required courses, ministerial objectives, and courses yet to be taken to achieve the student’s ultimate educational objective.

Where are the on-site locations?

Live classes are taught throughout the East and South Bay Area. The Upcoming LIVE Classes page will specify where each class will be held. Check out all of our locations. Additionally, many NCBC classes can be taken through distance learning at any time throughout the year on the convenience of your laptop in your own location.
